This tutorial simulation was created by Debleena Sengupta by starting
with the model in ModelDB associated with

Moore JW, Joyner RW, Brill MH, Waxman SD, Najar-Joa M (1978)
Simulations of conduction in uniform myelinated fibers. Relative
sensitivity to changes in nodal and internodal parameters. Biophys J
21:147-60

To start: either auto-launch from ModelDB or download and extract the
archive and either double click on mosinit.hoc (mswin), drag and drop
mosinit.hoc on the nrngui icon (mac OS X), or type nrngui mosinit.hoc
on the command line (unix/linux).

Once the simulation is started:
Changes in myelination are modeled with changes in capacitance of two
distal (normally low capacitance myelinated) segments in the four node
axon model. To see how the capacitance increase (of demyelination)
effects the simulation select the full myelin button to first see how
the axon should function normally. The capacitances should now be set
to 0.005. Press the Init & Run in the movie dialog box. Now select
the half myelin mode and the capacitances for the two distal nodes
should change to 1 (demylinated state). Press Init & Run again in the
movie dialog box. Now the APs should fail to invade past the first
node.
